Join the National Museum of African American History and Culture for Violet Vibes, a vibrant waterfront celebration at DC’s Wharf commemorating the Museum’s 10th anniversary and the enduring theme that has guided it from the beginning: A People's Journey, A Nation's Story.

Together, we'll celebrate a decade of powerful stories that illuminate the richness, resilience and complexity of the African American experience and the profound impact those stories have had in shaping our nation.

No registration is required for free outdoor concerts and festivities on The District Pier.

Outdoor performances will include Black Alley, Malik Dope, DJ Rizzo, DJ Tye, Wine Line featuring Crystal Balaam, and other surprise guests. Festivities will also include a makers’ market, kids activities, Museum Store outpost, NMAAHC Membership booth, an immersive art park installation by TrapBob, and more.

Registration is required for free concerts inside the Anthem. Anthem concerts are divided into two tickets: daytime (12:15 – 4:00 PM) and evening (6:00 – 11:00 PM) tickets. 

Daytime performers in the Anthem include Brittney Spencer; Chelsey Green and the Green Project with Vaughn Jones; DJ Heat; Syncopated Ladies; Vic Jagger; a conversation with Black Music Collective; and more.

Evening performers in the Anthem include DJ Quiksilva; Sainted Trap Choir; Front Porch Live; Waiting to Exhale in Concert with Adam Blackstone, Tamar Braxton, Melanie Fiona, The Amours, and Deborah Cox; and a special performance by The Roots.

Local artist TrapBob, whose work has earned international acclaim, is known for large-scale, interactive installations that explore activism, community, and social issues. Her work seeks to bridge the gap between audience and message through bold, engaging experiences.

Explore the 10th Anniversary Art Park, an immersive installation designed by TrapBob in celebration of this milestone.

Together, we'll celebrate ten years of stories that have not only shaped America, but the full complexity of the African American lived experience. 

Violet Vibes at The Wharf is free to attend, but advance registration is required to attend shows at The Anthem.
